For the second batch of 2022, both regional office – WYA Europe and subregional office – WYA Southeast Europe receives representatives from Austria/UK, USA, Norway and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The internship program will give our 4 interns the opportunity to promote human dignity through the enrichment of their professional skills in advocacy, marketing and project management.
Meet Benedicta, Marietta, Ane and Medina!
Benedicta is 21 years old and grew up in Austria and the United Kingdom. She recently graduated with a degree in Biology from the University of Vienna, where she especially enjoyed seminars and lectures on research- and bioethics as well as anthropology, deciphering who we are as humans and what it is that makes us human. Inspired by WYA’s emphasis on education as an instrument for change be it through the Certified Training Program, Advocacy Academy, or Human Dignity Curriculum, but most of all through FEMM, which due to her background in science is particularly close to her heart, she’s excited to dive into her internship here in Brussels.
Marietta is from Wyoming, USA. She met WYA in the spring of 2021 and did an online internship with WYA North America that summer. She is a member of the WYANA National Committee and served as Head Delegate for the North America delegation at WYA’s 2022 International Solidarity Forum, which was one of the most amazing experiences of her life. She is very excited to be joining the WYA Europe team in Brussels this summer, and hopes to spend the rest of her life advocating for human rights on an international level!
Ane is a master’s student in international relations at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and has an undergraduate program in Development Studies from Oslo Metropolitan University. Her interest in international relations, global development and culture come from growing up between Norway and Croatia. She wants to use her academic knowledge and cultural background to promote diversity, share knowledge and connect people, businesses and organizations. Some of her hobbies are doing yoga, hiking, making origami, reading and tanning on the Croatian beaches.
Medina is 28 years old and lives in Sarajevo. She graduated from the Faculty of Law and is currently pursuing a master’s degree, also at the Faculty of Law. Since 2019, she has been leading the WYA Bosnia and Herzegovina chapter and is in charge of administration and publishing posts on social networks. Together with other members of the chapter, she works on promotion and gathering new members. During her education, she participated in various projects aimed at promoting human dignity and human rights. In addition to legal sciences, she is also interested in design, social media, and photography. In her free time, she likes to hike, and otherwise, she likes to eat.
WYA Europe wishes all the best in their experience as interns and encourages all those interested in enhancing their professional profiles through the WYA Europe and Southeast Europe internship program.
